The Horror Crypt
For years, the Horror Crypt in Blackpool sat as a tacky little horror fun house on the outskirts of the Pleasure Beach. It was a fun diversion for adventurous kids but has never really offered anything for the more discerning horror buff.
This all changed last year with the takeover of the attraction by Kurt Walsh – a dedicated horror movie fan who set out to turn the attraction into a museum of horror and murder.
We must state this is NOT designed to be a scare attraction and no-one should enter expecting to be scared witless. But if you have even a passing love of the genre then there is so much to see here – from genuine movie props, waxworks of famous characters, and several animated vignettes recreating scenes from some of the classic horror movies of all time.
It is an exhibition that deserves that you spend some time in and look at everything. Each room has a plethora of detail and hidden items - our personal favourite being the floating Danny Glick – the stuff of nightmares from the first horror movie ScareTOUR saw as a 10-year-old kid!
So, if you have any interest in horror movies and horror movie characters then you really should visit Horror Crypt when you are in Blackpool – its only £3 to enter, and if you look at everything, then that really is incredible value for money.
